Each year, we all get so excited for Christmas vacation and,
each year, we try to do it up right! This year, we were off for a LONG time
together:
Harmon – 19 days
Aimee – 18 days
Kevin – 17 days
Simon – 16 days
And, we did lots! We saw Chip-Wrecked and took a trip to the
North Pole. We had Harmon’s first-ever Christmas program at school and his
end-of-season basketball banquet, complete with a U-M game. We hit up the
Chelsea Tree House, saw The Polar Express in 3D at the Henry Ford, made way too many cookies and finished up our Christmas
shopping.
On Christmas Eve, we made our usual trip to Nana and Papa’s house so
the boys could collect their loot. Actually, Harmon played Santa so he was the
last one to open his gifts. He showed way more restraint than I did at 6! Harmon’s big gift from my family was a telescope and Simon got the Mini Cooper that
he had been visiting at Toys R’ Us with my Mom. Of course, they got many OTHER
things but those were the highlights.
Back at home, Santa set the bar high with scooters and far
too many books for both boys. After we spent HOURS opening gifts and having
breakfast, we headed back to my parents’ house for Christmas dinner with my
extended family. As always, the turkey dinner was AMAZING and the boys got in
some quality time with their cousins.
The day after Christmas, we headed to Peoria and spent a few
days with Kevin’s family. The boys always love spending time in Peoria with
their grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and other family members! We came
back to Ann Arbor on Dec. 30 and our last family event was our annual New
Year’s Eve dinner at Pizza House! It was a great almost three weeks together
and we can’t wait to do it again in 2012!
